Best free SAT and AP courses on YouTube, ranked by total hours

Updated 2026-10-13 · 10 courses · totals are live

AP exams are in May and the SAT runs several times a year, so for most students the question isn't which course, it's whether there's time to finish it. The free courses on YouTube range from a weekend's worth of review to more than a hundred hours of lessons, and a playlist never says which.

The numbers next to each course are live totals from the playlist itself, ranked longest first. Click one to see every video, tick off what you've watched, and the planner gives you a finish date to hold up against your exam date.

From 5h 59m (AP Macroeconomics — Heimler's History) to 4d 22h 47m (New AP & General Chemistry Video Playlist).

How to choose

  • Work back from the exam. AP exams are in the first two weeks of May. Put that date in the planner and it tells you how many minutes a day a course needs.
  • Long courses are references. Don't plan to watch a hundred-hour course start to finish before an exam; open the units you're weakest in.
  • For AP history, government and the sciences in short form, the Crash Course series were written around many of the same AP courses.

Finishing one

Open a course here, tick videos as you watch them, and the remaining time updates. The planner turns the total into a dated schedule you can put on your calendar, and the guide to finishing before an exam has the method. At 1.5×, most of these take a third less time; the speed guide has the numbers.
