How long is JEE preparation on YouTube? 13 free courses, measured

Updated 2026-10-21 · 6 min read

The full free JEE course on YouTube takes 1,072 hours to watch. That is the Competishun lecture series on Mohit Tyagi's channel, ten playlists and 2,575 videos, which we measured on 21 October 2026, counting every video to the last: 379 hours of physics, 380 of chemistry and 313 of maths.

At 1.5× speed that is 715 hours: 59 minutes of lectures every day for two years, about the length of class 11 and class 12. Start with a year left and it is two hours a day; with six months, nearly four. That is video alone, before a single problem is solved.

Every course, measured

Ranked by total. "1.5×" is the total watched at one and a half times speed, and "Avg" the average video. ABJ is ABJ Sir, NS is Neeraj Saini, ALK is Alok Sir and MT is Mohit Tyagi, all on the Competishun series; PW is Alakh Pandey's Physics Wallah.

Course Videos Total 1.5× Avg
Physics 12, ABJ 206 195 h 130 h 57m
Physics 11, ABJ 178 184 h 123 h 62m
Organic, NS 338 167 h 111 h 30m
Calculus, MT 750 133 h 89 h 11m
Physical, ALK 279 114 h 76 h 25m
Inorganic, ALK 217 99 h 66 h 27m
Physics 11, PW 117 98 h 66 h 50m
Algebra, MT 403 95 h 63 h 14m
Organic 11, PW 66 61 h 41 h 55m
Chemistry 11, PW 75 61 h 41 h 49m
Coordinate, MT 63 41 h 27 h 39m
Trigonometry, MT 92 24 h 16 h 16m
Vectors and 3D, MT 49 20 h 13 h 25m

Totals are rounded to the hour. None of the thirteen has a private or deleted video. Each course name opens its live page, where the total is current and you can tick off what you have watched. The same thirteen are on our list of free JEE courses, with what each covers.

The three subjects

The ten Competishun playlists, added up by subject:

Subject Videos Total 1.5×
Physics, 2 courses 384 379 h 253 h
Chemistry, 3 834 380 h 253 h
Maths, 5 1,357 313 h 209 h
All three, 10 2,575 1,072 h 715 h

Physics and chemistry are almost exactly the same length, and maths is about a sixth shorter. The video counts say something else entirely: maths has more videos than physics and chemistry together, because Mohit Tyagi teaches in short videos, 11 minutes on average in calculus, while ABJ Sir's physics lectures run about an hour. Calculus has 750 videos and takes 133 hours; class 12 physics has 206 and takes 195. Judge a JEE course by its hours, never by its video count.

Hours a day until the exam

The lecture time a day the whole Competishun course needs, watching every day, by how long you have left:

Time left 1× 1.5× 2×
24 months 1 h 28 m 59 m 44 m
18 months 1 h 57 m 1 h 18 m 59 m
12 months 2 h 56 m 1 h 58 m 1 h 28 m
9 months 3 h 55 m 2 h 37 m 1 h 57 m
6 months 5 h 52 m 3 h 54 m 2 h 56 m
3 months 11 h 47 m 7 h 51 m 5 h 53 m

Read across from the row you are in. Started at the beginning of class 11, the full course is about an hour of lectures a day at 1.5×, which leaves the rest of the day for problems, school and tests. From class 12 onwards it is two hours a day; from six months out, about four; with three months left it is nearly six hours a day even at 2×. JEE is decided by the problems you can solve, not the lectures you have seen, so treat these as the floor and plan your practice on top. Derivations at 2× are hard to follow; what each speed costs →.

If there is less time: the shorter route

Physics Wallah's three class 11 playlists come to 220 hours. Alakh Pandey's class 11 physics is 98 hours, about half of ABJ Sir's 184, but it stops at thermodynamics, so SHM and waves need another course; the two chemistry playlists cover most of class 11 chemistry in 122 hours together. They are a class 11 route, not a whole JEE course: there is no maths and no class 12 among them.

The other way to save time is to watch one chapter rather than one course. Mohit Tyagi's channel posts each maths chapter as its own playlist, and the JEE list links two of them, Straight Lines and Circles, for revising a weak topic without reopening a 750-video playlist.

Check the total covers every video

Some playlist length tools add up only the first 100 videos and stop without saying so. On JEE courses that is most of the course missing: the first 100 videos of Mohit Tyagi's calculus come to 19 hours of its 133, his algebra to 21 of 95, and Neeraj Saini's organic chemistry to 34 of 167. Across the ten Competishun playlists the first 100 videos of each add up to 445 hours, so a tool that stops there shows less than half of the real 1,072. If a total looks short for a playlist of more than 100 videos, here is how to check it.

Plan the whole syllabus

Open each course from the table above, set your speed and daily time in the planner, and it gives you a finish date and the videos for each day; you can put the sessions in your calendar. Tick each video as you finish it and the time left updates, and the course stays in your list on the home page to pick up where you stopped. The exam date guide works back from the exam day, and how long a free YouTube course is puts JEE next to 23 other subjects.

Frequently asked

How many hours is the full JEE course on YouTube?

The free Competishun series, ten playlists of physics, chemistry and maths on Mohit Tyagi's channel, is 1,072 hours 17 minutes over 2,575 videos, measured on 21 October 2026. At 1.5× it is 715 hours.

How many hours a day should I watch JEE lectures?

To finish the full course at 1.5× watching every day: 59 minutes a day over two years, about two hours over one year, and about four hours over six months. Practice time goes on top of that, and for JEE it is the larger part.

Is Physics Wallah shorter than Competishun for JEE?

For class 11, yes. Physics Wallah's class 11 physics is 98 hours against ABJ Sir's 184, but it stops at thermodynamics. Its two class 11 chemistry playlists are 122 hours together. There is no maths or class 12 in that set.

How long is Mohit Tyagi's calculus playlist?

133 hours 29 minutes over 750 videos, about 11 minutes each, measured on 21 October 2026. At 1.5× it is 89 hours. It is the largest single block of JEE maths on our list.

Why might a total differ from the playlist today?

These totals were measured on 21 October 2026. Channels add and remove videos, and videos go private. Each course's page here, and the JEE list, shows the total as it is now.
