YouTube timestamp link generator

Share a video that starts exactly where you mean it to.

How a YouTube timestamp link works

YouTube reads a t parameter and starts playback there. The value is a number of seconds, optionally with unit suffixes:

  • youtu.be/dQw4w9WgXcQ?t=90 — starts at 1:30
  • youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ&t=90s — the same, on the long-form URL
  • ?t=1h2m10s — hours, minutes and seconds spelled out

The box above accepts whichever way you think about time — 1:30, 90, 1m30s — and writes the form YouTube wants.

Doing it without this page

YouTube has a built-in route, and it is worth knowing:

  1. Pause the video at the moment you want.
  2. Right-click the player and choose Copy video URL at current time.

On mobile, Share gives you a Start at toggle in the sheet. Both work well when you are already watching. This page is for the other case — when you have the link and the time written down somewhere, and you do not want to open, scrub and hunt for the right frame.

Where timestamp links behave differently

  • Embeds ignore ?t=. An /embed/ URL wants ?start=90 instead, in whole seconds. The generator gives you both.
  • Playlists keep the parameter, so a link can open a specific moment of a specific video inside a playlist.
  • Comments and descriptions turn a bare 1:30 into a clickable link automatically — you do not need a full URL there, just the time.
  • Live streams only accept timestamps once the replay exists.

Frequently asked questions

How do I make a YouTube link start at a certain time?

Add ?t= and the number of seconds to the video URL — youtu.be/ID?t=90 starts ninety seconds in. Paste your link above and type the time in any format to have it written for you.

What is the YouTube timestamp URL format?

Add t= and the start time to the video URL: youtu.be/ID?t=90, or youtube.com/watch?v=ID&t=90s on the long form. Plain seconds (90), seconds with an s (90s) and 1h2m10s all work. Embedded players use start=90 instead, in whole seconds.

How do I send a YouTube link with a timestamp?

On a computer, pause where you want it to start, right-click the video and choose Copy video URL at current time, or click Share and tick Start at before copying. Paste that link into your message. If you already have the link and the time, the box above writes it for you.

Why doesn't my timestamp work in an embed?

Embedded players ignore t and use start instead, in whole seconds: youtube.com/embed/ID?start=90. The generator gives you the embed form alongside the normal one.

Can I link to a time range?

Yes, add an end parameter: ?t=90&end=120 plays from 1:30 to 2:00. Ranges only work in embeds reliably; on a normal watch page the end is often ignored.

Does this send my link anywhere?

No. The generator runs entirely in your browser — the page makes no request when you use it, and nothing you paste leaves your device.
